Abstract : The solid biopolymer electrolytes (SBEs) based on carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) doped with ammonium sulphate (AS) were prepared via solution-casting technique. The structure of CMC-AS SBEs was determined using two methods: FTIR spectroscopy as the experimental method and Gaussian 09W software as a computational method. These two methods compared the spectrum of pure CMC and CMC-AS by identifying the molecular bonding and determining the observed vibrational frequencies. The IR spectrum of pure CMC and CMC-AS was identified in the range of 3800 to 650 cm-1 for bonding O‒H stretching, asymmetric COO⁻ stretching, C‒O bending and C‒H stretching. The transport parameters, which are number density, ionic mobility and diffusion coefficient, are calculated based on the percentage area of free ions data determined from the FTIR deconvolution method. This study proved that AS could be one of the important materials in the approach to developing a good SBE.
