Abstract : The radiation shielding properties of 20Li2O-5Bi2O3-(74-x)TeO2-1Er2O3-xAg glass system were investigated. The Mass Attenuation Coefficient (MAC) values for all glass samples have been investigated to be energy-dependent and can be classified into three energy regions related to three processes: photoelectric effect, Compton scattering, and pair production. The MAC curves revealed that the added silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) glass sample had higher gamma attenuation and interaction due to the evenly dispersed small size Ag NPs throughout the glass and radiosensitization effect by Ag NPs.
