Abstract : Nanotechnology has received worldwide attention over the last decades for various application including nanomedicine due to the exceptional properties and opportunities for the advancement in prevention, point of care diagnostic as well as for treatment against life-threatening infectious disease. Recent decades have seen the development of novel nanomaterials and technical tools. Clinical solutions based on nanotechnology may help overcome the limitations of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) detection and theranostics. With this viewpoint, this review discussed the research advancement of various nanomaterials ranging from synthesis up to their broad range of applications. Herein, we provide an overview of the research development of nanomaterials and its application in prevention, point of care nanodiagnostic and promising approaches in nanotherapy treatment, in line with the development of nanotechnology and the advancements made in nanomedicine. The emphasis is on the utilization of numerous nanomaterials in combating infectious diseases originated from viruses and the prospective to explore the application in the fighting the latest novel COVID-19.
