Abstract : TiO2-NiS composite films prepared via sol-gel method assisted spin-coating technique has been utilized as photoanode of dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC). The concentration of the nickel nitrate precursor was varied. The influence of the concentration of the precursor on the structural, optical properties and photovoltaic performance has been investigated. The XRD studies revealed that the samples are crystalline with the presence of NiS and anatase TiO2 phase. The samples absorb more light in ultraviolet region. The highest efficiency of 0.137% was achieved at 3 mM nickel nitrate due to the smallest crystallite size and lowest charge transfer resistance at TiO2-NiS/dye/electrolyte interface.
